I have an HP Pavilion 9800 series computer that originally had two 64MB memory cards. I purchased two 256MB cards making a total of 512MB of memory, in place of the two 64MB cards. Now, according to the specs I can go from 128MB to 256MB and finally to a total of 512MB. This unit is using a pentium 4 processor, and what I want to know is if I can go higher than the 512MB, say to 1GB?

As far as I can tell no. Your limited by the motherboard chip-set which only supports up to 512MB of ram. The only way to add more than the 512MB of RAM would be by replacing the original motherboard with a new one.
