Last response: in Graphics & Displays

So recently I deceided I wanted to play counter strike source again with my cousin. When I first bought my computer I had no problems with the game I ran at like 100+ fps. But now when I play im sitting around 40fps and I cant seem to figuere it out.

Specs are
Intel Pentium D Processor 2.8ghz
2gb ddr 2 ram
Hd 5770 gfx *I know its bottleneck its for my future system*
375w PS
Sound blaster xfi SFX

Its really making me mad because I cant figuere out why its suddenly unplayable. Im on full low settings and lowest dimmensions capable. I run starcraft 2 on low no problem and WoW and medium like its a walk in the park. Somethings got to give...

Go to the Steam Library, right-click Counter-Strike Source, properties, Set Launch Options, then add "-autoconfig" (no quotes). Run the game, then delete the line.

In the event that that doesn't help, were you playing CS:S before with the 5770 (at 100+FPS) or a different card?

something is wrong. My rig is intel core i7 870 coupled with a gtx 275 1792mb and I got 200+ fps on that game.It never even went into the 100s.As for starcraft 2 I maxed it our with 57 fps.Do you have any antivirus or a memory hogging process in the background?
