HPdvd1140 from tower, how can I use it with my sony vaio?

Hi, I use an older Sony Vaio laptop, the DVD won't play sound, tried everything on that side, can I somehow use the HPdvd1140 from a salvage tower with my laptop? If so, how? THANKS!

You can get a 5.25" External Drive adapter (either IDE or Sata) and use it is an external drive.
