CAN XFX HD 6870 RUN ON A 500W PSU

I have just bought a XFX HD 6870 and the minimum required power is 500w.
I have a 500w vip gold psu.
Will that be fine, cauz I have no other hardware addons (sound card/tv tuner card). I also checked on other sights and found out the max power taken from 6870 is 350w in full load. Still the company says 500w is minimum.

What amperage is your PSU pushing out across the 12v rails?

Graphics card companies always reccommend higher wattage than you actually need in case you have a cheap nasty psu that cant actually output its rated wattage of nice stable current

A good quality 500 w psu will have no trouble powering a 6870 .

The whole system including the card will probably draw around the 350 watt mark you mention

I'm running a 4870 and i5 750 on a 430w power supply.

4870 draws similar power to a 6870 so you should be OK.
