I have bought a pc from shinobee on amazon and it worked fine for a few months and now it has started crashing and refusing to boot. They told me to try it with only one 2gb RAM card, which works, but i want 4gb of RAM. I bought a new RAM card from crucial and it just won't accept two cards. anybody know why this may be happening? (also, i get a message saying that the motherboard does not support the cpu, however shinobee tells me that that does not matter ??)

Welcome to Tom's Forum! :)

Q - What exact ASUS MOBO?
Q - What exact CPU?
Q - What BIOS version?
Q - What exact RAM? ; please provide a link or Kit or Part Number for EACH slot

If unknown, simple use CPU-z to identify the parts - http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Mixing RAM is a accident waiting to happen, and chances are one of the 2GB stick was/is bad and putting in one of each 2GB + 4GB isn't a good idea -- install only in Matching Sets and in pairs (LGA 1155/AMD/1156).

Sometimes if there's an error you'll see 'Overclocking error Press F1' or if removing the CPU 'New CPU' but seeing "motherboard does not support the cpu" if never seen before suggests a corrupt BIOS.

Clear CMOS, unplug the PC from the socket for ~5 minutes and using the CMOS Jumper change positions for at least 5+ seconds ; video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdHH9KrceR0
