I certainly hope nobody actually intends on using this, but i thought it would be fun to see what kind of answers show up. Think of it as kind of a mini competition and the winner gets the best answer award.

Basically just get a fully functional desktop PC for the cheapest possible, (no need to include peripherals) and post it on this thread.

When I get a good amount of replies I'll give the best answer to the lowest cost PC.

So that's about it, thanks in advance for your participation!!!!

*parts must be new*

*Provide links to the websites for the parts so I can verify!!!*

case with PSU (wouldn't reccommend the PSU)
and thats about it (integrated graphics)

That's pretty sweet, but its not buy-able yet. So yeah, close but no cigar.

You would have most likely won otherwise... Cheers!

OS : Ubuntu

So for pricing if we are not including shipping it is $161.94 or with shipping it is $167.21

If my open box Mobo is not acceptable then we have to add $16 and another $2.99 shipping

I noticed that the $185 build did not include shipping. With shipping that set up comes out to 206.86 vs mine with shipping is $167.21 (open box on Mobo) or $186.20 without going open box on the Mobo.

if i downgrade ram to this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134787

it goes down to $175.93 inc. postage and everything else. and if i use that open box Mobo which you selected, it would go down even further to $159.93 inc. PandP.

You must get free shipping at newegg because your DVD drive and case add almost $15 to your total when I look at the links you included (your case fan and HD are another $2 each in shipping as well). I agree that some of your components are cheaper if you exclude shipping but if you include it some of my parts come in under. Either way they are both very cheap builds that I am sure neither of us would like to use :)

I guess this is 5 years too late, but $5 "computer": https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspberry-pi-zero/
You'll need your own power supply, monitor, and keyboard.
