One system, two purposes

I’m looking to build a new system. It will have 2 different purposes.

1st: Web browsing, Facebook gaming, backing up DVD & Blurays, playing DVD & Blurays through a full HD TV, photo editing in Photoshop.

2nd: Business use, Excel spreadsheet editing and running reports on a 2million+ record database.

Both of these purposes are separate and obviously don’t need to run at the same time. Its also important that the 2nd configuration is secure. Virus/hacking/ stolen data would be disastrous.

I’m thinking of building one machine and dual booting it. I haven’t owned or built a desktop for at least 5 years so my knowledge is a bit out of date. When I did build my own desktops I liked Intel CPU, Asus MB and Iiyama monitors. Are these still good brands?

Any advice on specs or components?
