Pcie 3.0

simple question, for the latest graphics cards is it really necessary to get a mobo with pcie 3.0 or will 2.0 work just as well? what is the difference?

  1. It will work just as well with with very negligble dropoffs.

3.0 Cards are backwards compatible with 2.0 slots.
  2. PCI Express
PCI Express 3.0 would carry a bit rate of 8 gigatransfers per second (GT/s), and that it would be backwards compatible with existing PCIe implementations.
    no measurable FPS difference:
  3. wow ok, looks like paying a ton more for a mobo with three slots of 3.0 or more is not needed, i can get something pretty great with two slots for $130 or less! just thinking of sli for the future, but saving now is really appealing!
