Triple core or intel core 3 best for vidio editing

Hello,im about to buy a computer for my son for video editing and have been told its best to buy the new intel range and even thought no dedicated graphics card they work better apparntley than the old duel core or triple core wiht a graphics card ? any advise please

Anandtech has a good bench tool that you can compare CPU speed in different tasks, here's an example of the AthlonIIx3 450 and the i3 540. Whichever specific tasks your son uses this might help.

*EDIT* If you were looking at the i3 series 2xxx then Sandy Bridge would far outpace the AMD option.

no seriously though if your son is into video editing he should be up on tech and telling you what to buy

my sons autistic and very into his editing but doesnt have the knowlegd ref best to use at present and i get mixed apinions in store ie some say needs a deticated graphics card others say i dont as the new intel range is very good and good enought . so its bit confusing i only have 450 to spend on it as well cheers
