Hey all,

If I don't plan to overclock at all, do I need anything more than the stock cooler that will arrive with my i7-2600k?

Thanks,

James

I'd say yes. Stock cooler is totally meh, and considering that HYper 212+ is cheap as dirt ($27 last I checked), I'd just pick it up.

Hey amk,

I was thinking the same thing for $27.

Did you have struggles installing the Hyper 212+ on your ASUS board?

Nah. It's simple. Put the bracket, tighten the screws, install the HSF with the fans. Just make sure the fan is blowing the right way (through the heatsink towards your exhaust fans). If you find it difficult, there're tons of videos, even on Newegg itself.

a k version cpu and affraid of oc, a wastage of that cpu.
Stock cooler are designed to keep temps under 55 and not so loud at full load on stock settings and thus grabbing a better cooler is another wastage of money.
