ATI Radeon HD 5450 with a AMD Athlon II x2 250 or ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics with a AMD Athlon II 640 Quad-Core Processor. I'm buying a new PC and deciding on which PC to buy with those specs. My plan was to buy one of these PC's and just upgrade the graphics card.

You asked me which graphics card is better, so I'd say HD5450. Currently, a dual-core is sufficient for optimal performance, as not every game takes advantage of all four cores. If you want to be able to play more games without upgrading the graphics, try the Athlon II X2.

If you wish get a better graphics card in the future (or now), buy the one with the Athlon II 640, since it''s faster in almost every single way, though, you can do better with the processor, perhaps buy one with Sandy Bridge or Phenom II?

A decent graphics card would be HD5770 or the GTX 460 SE for only $110 and $150 respectively.

Contrary to popular belief, the CPU is equally important as the GPU in gaming. If you want a dual core, go with the AMD Phenom II X2 555, if you want a Quad Core, go with the AMD Phenom II X4 955. Depending on the games you are playing, choose one of these: HD 5770 (Mid End), HD 6790 (Mid-High End), HD 6850 (High End).
