Yeah so this is like the 190274015th thread on a first timer building a new gaming rig. I want to build a computer around the new sandy bridge chipset, hoping to upgrade my system for current and future gaming.
Right now I am on a >$700 budget, I want to bring the cost down but its really just not that possible.
Parts I would like to save from my current computer: mouse, keyboard, speakers, monitor, optical drive, HD
Parts that can be included in my upgrade besides the optical drive and HD: EVGA GeForce 9500 GT
Build I am looking at: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ar/lx7
CPU i5 2500k - $180 at microcenter
COOLER Cooler Master RR-B10-212P-G1 - $30
CASE HAF 912 -$60
PSU Corsair 650W ATX V2 -$80
MOTHERBOARD Asus P8P67 (REV 3.0) ATX LGA1155 - $140
MEMORY G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 -$44
TOTAL : $534 without buying a graphics card...
HDD will be updated in the future its just not necessary yet. I want to have a computer that will last 5-6 years with some minor upgrades here and there, basically to fit my needs during college and gaming.
