Would it be a stupid purchase,to buy a nvidia 480 gtx .i see some for 299.with also a 50 dollar coupon to make it 249. i was lookin at the 570 they seem to be near par with eachother.i currently have a 4890.its been doing great for me.just thinking about dx 11.not sure if its even worth the upgrade.figured maybe its time to up just alittle to a 480 or something. or maybe get 2 cheap cards to crossfire or sli.

I wouldn't call it a bad buy at all. A lot of vendors are trying to get rid of old inventory, so there's a few specials now and again that are worth grabbing. Something like a 5850 for $140 or a 5870 eyefinity for $200 are great buys.

I think the 480 still has a lot going for it. The 1.5 ram compared to the 570s 1.28 for example. The only problem that I have with the 480 is the noise level it produces. With the 570, nvidia really managed to tone down the sound of the nuclear reactor cooling.

Performance wise especially at 1920 or above resolution, the 480 is going to be about twice as fast as the 4890. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/175?vs=158

Im not worried about noise levels or anything.my radeon already sounds like a jet.i have the core overclocked to 1050 ..So 249.99 for a 480 wouldnt be bad.?.i wouldnt mind the 570 to be honest with you.it seems overall like a beast in itself.even the 560.money dont grow on trees, and in my firm opinion no graphic card to me is worth above 300 in my book.thats why i am considering this 480 beings its instant coupon savins.im not too sure on what im going to do.i would prolly need to overclock my amd .it runs at 2.8ghz its a quad core phenom 820 x4.might just wait awhile.i like my 4890.

its funny how when the 480 was released it was what 500?.now down to 250 lol.its funny how the world of technology works.cell phones are also turning that way.Well thanks for the info dude.
