Hi all,

I need some help udgrading my little brothers old HP Pavilion m9580sc-a.

Specs
Mobo: IPIBL-LB (Intel G33 chipset)
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q9300 (socket 775, 2.5 GHz)
RAM: 4GB PC2-6400 (800 MHz)
Graphics card: 9800GT 1 GB (changed to a HD5670 1GB when the original one died)

It has trouble running new games, so I have advised him to spend some of his hard earned money delivering mail, on buying some new parts before his birthday (October) after which he will buy a new computer.

Initally it would seem to me that it only needs a new graphics card to give it a few more months worth?

Giving him a few different cards to choose from (HD6870, HD6950 and 560-Ti) he chose a MSI 560 TI TwinFrozr II graphics cards.

I fear that would require he has to get a new PSU?

The current one is a 460W Delta Electronics DPS-460DB A rev. 02F, Alt. P/N: 5188 2863.

(this link has some very good information on the PSU including a picture of the text on the component itself)

I was thinking about getting him a Corsair CX500V2 or 600V2 if the current one isn't good enough.

Since I'm not very knowledgeable about PSU's I cannot determine if the Corsair CX PSU's would be compatible with the other components in the m9580sc-a.

Can someone help me out???
