I am trying very hard to pick the best power supply for my build. I am going to go for a 1000w+ right now I have my eyes on the AX1200 from Corsair, I found it on TG for $259.99. Anyone have any better suggestions?

Going to be running x2 580GTX in SLI and possibly a 3rd down the road.

it's an excellent PSU, if your heart is set on it then get it (assuming your wallet agrees)

I only use Antec or Corsair in the last 4 years. I'm more skewed towards single rail PSU.

Its a personal preference but pretty satisfied w/ it. It got my 1st Corsair in 2009 and never had issues w/ it. I have 2 HX1000 and a HX850. I have 2 Antec Quadro 850.

Yeah I had an HX1000 in my old PC... I haven't seen much bad stuff on the AX series other than apparently some of them can be on the loud side. Thermaltake and Corsair is always who I bought PSUs from before.

Enermax make some very high quality units past 1000w. I believe some are 80PLUS PLATINUM rated as well.

Ive been using thermaltake 700W for 3 years and so far its worked great.
I have heard some people say the seasonic 1000 Watt units are especially good, but i never tested one myself.

Im still not sure if im going to go with the AX1200 ... Ive been doing a lot of research on it, and am seeing a lot of people having issues with the coils squealing.

Ive been thinking about going back to Thermaltake because I also had a 700w Thermaltake tough power for about 5 years and its never had any problems. However I havnt seen a good TT psu over 1000w yet =/

Any other votes for 1000+W psus ?

AX1200 is x-ellent.i am using coolermaster silent pro 1000w 80+ gold.no problems, issues, complaints.i think you dont need 1200w to run 2 580s.1000w would be more than enough.thermaltake toughpower PSUs are also good performers.rosewill(personally tested)are also good psus.but still AX1200 is the best from all of these(if your budget allows).you can even make 3 way sli 580s OMG.(i have seen 3 gtx 480s running fine on a antec high current pro something.

ended up buying the AX1200.... Hopefully I don't have issues with the coils like others have. I think it will look great in my 800D :)

I know you already chose a best answer, but I would also recommend the NZXT Hale90 1000W.
