Is there a worthwhile upgrade?

Hello,
I have an old computer. Celeron R. 775 socket. XP 32 bit. Increased memory from 512 to 2G. On cable. Still about as slow as a dial up. Motherboard is Intel D102DGGC. Is there a processor which would be a worhtwhile upgrade for this? Intel won't give any advice for this old board. Any comments appreciated. Thanks, John W.

Well this would be an upgrade, and it would be faster than what you have, and its only $35.

    Intel Pentium D 820 2.8GHz 800MHz 2x1MB Socket 775 Dual-Core CPU - PD820280775-R

This is better but its used, around the same price

    Intel Pentium D 930 3.0GHz 800MHz 2x2MB Socket 775 Dual-Core CPU

It did come out 6 years ago, and your system is pretty outdated at this point so you might just want to start all over, but if you're going on the cheap this is pretty much the only chip that would make sense.
  2. Would like to point out that if its running slow, perhaps you just need to clean it so it doesn't slow down due to heat. Might also have a virus on it.
