Will stock fan from P4 2.4 work with 3.4ghz SL793 socket 478? If not does anyone have an inexpensive recommendation?

I got this for $20 on eBay for older second computer to help with multitasking HT running certain tasks so i isolate them and don't have to run them on my newer computer. I heard than the cpu speed with HT can be over a 75% improvement like ave passmark 314 to over 550 or higher and from a low end cpu to a low mid-range cpu

Harry the HSF used on an Intel® Pentium® 4 2.4GHz 800MHz would have been almost as the one that was used on the Intel Pentium 4 3.4Ghz. So as long as you have good case ventilation you should have a problem.

Some stock intel p4 coolers have a copper mating surface and core, and some are all aluminum. If it is the copper one you will be fine. If you have the aluminum one you might have over heating issues. If you have the aluminum one try it see what happens.

Thank you for the replies. Been busy and hope to upgrade the processor this week. I don't know if the mating surface and core are copper or aluminum yet. I did get some arctic silver 5 and arctic 1 & 2 remover and surface purifier Will also be upgrading a E6750 to a Q9550 with a Zalman CNPS 10x Performa cooler.
