i took some of your advice and made some small changes, and filled out the form, ill respond to some things directly in a second. I only have 800 to spend right now, but do plan to further upgrade the rig. I eventually want to overclock and add more/better gfx cards. Using for gaming: I mainly play Eve online, Civ5, LOTRO, hopefully GW2 / D3 / heroes 6 soon.

Please fill this out.

I will tell you right now.
You don't need that HDD, it's expensive and not even that fast. It'll perform the same as the Samsung F3 1TB, but the F3 is $35 less and in reality would perform the same.

On such a small budget, you don't even need an SSD. But you should change to this and save if you do.

You also don't need the i5 2500K, you don't even plan to overclock, you don't plan on upgrading either. With that said drop the 2500K.

If you can, return the 5570, that's not going to game very well in general. I suggest you get this. At least this.

It's not. In reality they will always perform roughly the same. They both spin at 7200RPM and don't flash space like SSDs do. The room for improvement even with the larger cache would probably improve performance by 1-2% in RL. But is that worth $30? That's up to you. To me a stupid person would pay $30 more for that 1-2% increase.

plz fillout the advice format will help people trying to help you but ya a few things

hard drives are tricky and only really need to spend around 50 bux for a decent one.

do u go to college or know someone that does? if they have a .edu email address you can get a download version of w7 and a disc set for 42 bux.

ya u dont need 8gb go with t he 4gb.

are you playing games ? if so i would suggest a higher end graphics card for a little future proofing cause i assume everyone will be playing diablo3/sc2.

ya drop the ssd until u get rest of the components right also where is ur case??

agreed, you have a SSD, what is the point of a HDD that is only just that tad slower, the only reason why i would by a WD black is when they put it on clearance (which is probably never going to happen)

Save the money by getting 4gb ram and a cheaper hdd and put the money towards something else. I'm thinking he might wanna keep the 2500k since he doesnt plan on ever upgrading just in case he needs to OC to improve performance for certain game/program....

Haha thanks Jeremy for the support! I'd be glad to help for the 3rd build.

As for future proofing, yeah you may want the 2500K I suppose. But really, any money you can save. Save it, graphics are only getting more demanding. The 5770/6770 doesn't exactly cut it like it used to. But hard to say as a few of the games you've mentioned aren't out yet.

thanks shinobi and others for help! taking some of your advice i seem to have cut to below my budget lol :D
I edited the main post to follow proper format, lowered SSD and HD and RAM costs.

J3D1: yes i mainly play games. This card will do for the moment i think, but I definitely plan to get something better when d3 hits :D I have a few cases already I can use.
Also.. YES i do happen to go to college, and had no idea I could get a cheaper deal on windows (the thing i wanted to spend $$ on the least outta my build :D ), how does it work exactly?

jeremy/shinobi/others: yea i wanted the 2500k and a pricier/bigger motherboard so that i can overclock in the future when I have more cash for better graphics card(s) and nicer fans etc

this all being said, the price has dropped a ton, could almost do the graphics now..?

also good job on cleaning up your build but if you can afford it i would get a better video card now rather then later

the reason being that the bang for the buck factor is really good right around the 6850 it can blow almost any application out with a little overclocking. and u have room in ur budget that is if you wanna spend that money now :D

well i do kind of want to save some money for my last 2 weeks of summer, and will make more money soon after its done. I was planning to get a better 1 or 2 gfx cards when that happens ( in a month or so).

can you use 2x 6850, and is it worth it? if so, do i need a different motherboard? i dunno how the 16x/8x etc works on the second one in terms of performance.

engineering students usually get these for free :D. not too shabby though. These upgrade cds might also be usuable from scratch. I clean installed a windows xp upgrade disc a long while back :D
