DisplayPorts not detecting monitor

I am using a HP COMPAQ 8000 Elite CMT fitted with an AMD Radeon HD 4600 Series graphics card. Win7 32bit OS. IIyama Prolite E1900S monitor.

There are two DisplayPorts and a DVI port on the card. The DVI port works fine but using a DisplayPort to DVI adapter the PC is not seeing the monitor.

I don't have access to a monitor with DP input so I cannot try a direct link. However I have tried different adaptors, different DVI cables and the latest drivers for the 4600 series.

I have also tried a Siemens CMTC1913 monitor which has DVI-D input.

I have tried removing the graphics card, the onboard graphics has 1 DisplayPort++ output and 1 VGA. The VGA works fine but still no monitor detected on DisplayPort.

I eventually need to run 2 monitors from this PC but I have run out of ideas regarding the DisplayPorts?

I believe it's an active displayport output, which means you can't just use an adapter. An adapter for active displayport requires an external power supply. Check out this thread:

Get an Active Displayport adapter, not a Passive one. Should solve your problem pretty fast.
