Video card related hard crashes in 3d mode

System specs:
Intel Q6600
OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
eVGA Geforce 9800 GTX 512MB <<< possible culprit?
Win 7 x64 bit
nVidia driver versoin 275.33

History:
The machine is slightly over three years old and has been rock stable and capable of playing any games up until this morning.
There were NO hardware/software changes made before the issue started happening.
Symptoms:
Anytime 3d acceleration is required (i.e. when starting a game of Medal of Honor, at the loading screen of Dawn of War II, etc...)
the following occurs:
What looks like mesh overlay is displayed on the monitor, followed by a hard crash. I have to restart my machine.
I am suspecting that the Videocard is at fault and will probably be ordering another one. Is there a way to solidify my suspicions, and possibly rule out memory issues?

  1. Is the video card overclocked? You could test the memory using Memtest86+ and Prime 95, but bad RAM doesn't cause video issues.
