Psu highpitched noise

Hello,
Inthe middle of the night my corsair500 psu started making a high pitched noise that woke me up at 6 in the morning. It was shut down, so I pulled the plug and it stopped. What are the diagnostic steps I should take?

Just one: replace its fan. And be happy

Hopefully, its just the fan. Worst case, the PSU is about to go.

Sounds like a blown cap, contact Corsair and request an RMA.
