Ad-hoc connection

hey guys i am running win xp SP3 lite edition.........
I want to use my ethernet broadband connection via wifi using my laptop.....

I got it to work when i made the settings using Win xp sp2......

What i did in sp3 is as follows
Shared my local area network, got into wireless network properties, Under wireless networks checked use windows to configure my.........., after that scrolled down and got into preffered lists and clicked Add....
Entered a random SSID name, Clicked the 1st box,
Network authentification- open
Data encry- WEP

Entered the security key
Clicked on ad-hoc connection...
Now moved back to wireless networks and scrolled down to advance and then checked ad-hoc .. after that i clicked ok........

But the problem is that when i opened the wireless network properties, My saved SSID was not there.......
Whenever i Create a SSID it gets deleted .
......

Please help me out.........

It might help if you phrased this better, and possibly included screenshots. What are you trying to do? Connect to a wireless network? Make a wireless network? Share some files with another computer?
