Switch the mobo to ASUS P8Z68-V PRO $204.99
It's 5 bucks more BUT it comes with free shipping which is savings of $12.27 :P

The Mobo uses dual channel memory, so 2x4GB 1.5V 1600Mhz kit is what you should go for.
Gskill RipjawsX 2x4GB CAS8 1600Mhz $78.49 will do nicely.

After those 2 switches you will be good to go.

Also looking at your parts it seems that if you ever need more speed, just pop in a 2nd 6950 your PSU can handle it nicely :)

Why do you need a 850W PSU? Especially an overpriced one?
If you really want excessive wattage get this instead:

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/art [...] ew/1204/10

For a single card you get a 500W.

Properly sized PSUs even for CF:

Thanks rvilkman And Browsingtheworld I went with your changes and changed the mobo, ram and switched the PSU for the 850w ocz one browsing recommended. I thought I might as well go big on wattage so I can crossfire later without having to worry about it.

@cbrunnem you gave me the US link but I still updated my list with the Canadian version which is still $20 cheaper than the WD.

yeah no problem you might consider buying two and put them in a raid 0. they are supposed to get about 200mb/s read and wrrite speeds in raid 0.

Reply to cbrunnem

you don't need to spend that kind of money for 850w.
Use the antec 750w posted before. It would be still enough for cf.

With the saved money what about buying this mbd.

It has a 20gb ssd and it has the same or more features than the asus motherboard for just $40 more.

Why_me

is that extra case fan for the top of the case?

Reply to bigburd47

Yeh why_me you helped me with my build the other day so I basically have the same build as him, should I get that extra 200 mm fan for the top?

Reply to troynewell47

That's an optional fan for the top of the case. I put that in the build for the fact I put dual vid cards in that build and two cards along with o/c the cpu makes for some major heat. But ya, that case has decent airflow.

I have no idea why the OP's build is like it is. He has thermal paste when the way over priced @ newegg CM212+ comes with thermal paste, he has a 850w psu for what should be a 750w psu...and that 850w is totally over priced, not to mention he has over $100 in shipping charges and a single vid card for all that money. $200 Z68 board for a gaming build?
