Trundle to Insight web site
take a gander at HP nx8220 in varying configurations.
With the budget you set M760 2Ghz 1Gb RAM 80GB Hard Drive DVD+/--RW
Lan/Modem comes in just under and there was 250 in stock
as of yesterday (Wednesday)

but with your budget as far as i note you could afford to have multiple
choices- i am also looking for a purchase in the near future.

Well on your latest two pointers i cant help.
Its really your decision ; you know what you want to do with the
machine
Does it fulfil those criteria IF so what other factors come into the
equation, spares, replacements, reliability.
At the end of the day the moment you have bought the laptop: companies
X, Y, Z will be along to sell the latest all singing dancing item at a
greatly reduced cost much to your annoyance ;but heck we have all been
there before.
You could look at Dell or Elonex web sites and construct a machine to
your spec.
