I bought a computer from HP a few months ago, and recently decided to upgrade the graphics card to a Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102949). I realized too late that my power supply only has one PCIE 6 pin cable when the card requires two. Would it be possible for me to just use a 6 pin splitter cable (like http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-PCIEXSPLIT6-6-Inch-Express-Splitter/dp/B004NNTVT6/ref=sr_1_12?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1317927966&sr=1-12) or will I have to worry about purchasing a whole new power supply?

My system specs are:
Intel core i7 2600
8 GB DDR3 RAM
1.5 TB 7200 rpm SATA Hard drive
460W PSU (Bordeaux-C)
HP Disc drive

I also do not plan on overclocking or setting up two cards. I just want to know if this option is viable.

Thanks.

Hmmm, those don't sound too bad actually, but I would just be safe and grab that PSU I linked.

Edit: Found the name of the power supply (Bordeaux-C).

I thank you very much for providing an alternative power supply unit, but I am a little hesitant to drop that kind of money for potentially only 40W of power and having to redo all the wiring.

Does anyone happen to know anything about the quality of Bordeaux-C psu's?

I don't know of that PSU maker, which means it is mostly likely junk. Trust me, the PC Power and Cooling will give you much more than that. It is VERY high quality and supports 500w only on the 12v rails. With all of the rails, it supports 600w. I would do it.
