  1. 2500K over 950 for gaming; are you only gaming or doing anything else as well (rendering, encoding?)

If you can wait a week the FX series will be out soon and you will likely see price drops from Intel
  2. mostly its gaming and watching movies using my led 55 ' as monitor .

For gaming right now the Intel® Core™ i5-2500K is one of the best gaming processors on the market. With the improvements of the 2nd generation Intel Core processors have an edge over the older 1st gen processors like the Intel Core i7-950. Also because so few games can take advantage of more than 3 threads the value hyper-threading on the Intel Core i7-2600K has very little value in a gaming environment. That leaves the difference between the Intel Core i7-2600K and the Intel Core i5-2500K as 100Mhz and 2MB of cache for the $100 dollars difference in price.

  4. i also considering not to upgrade in 4-5 years , i don't mind spending litle more now if it has advantage in coming year or so
  5. Like what? Your overall budget is what will determine this, and "limited" won't cut it on specificity.
  6. Games now don't use 4+ cores but future games will. If you want to be gaming 5 years from now get a FX-8150 or 2600K, an SLi or CfX motherboard, and a GTX 580, 590 or HD 6990. These will be adequate in 5 years, anything less will be questionable.

Do you know anyone gaming with a 7800 GT?
  7. id say get the 2500k, but wait a week cos intel are bound to drop prices when bulldozer come out
  8. i have a budget of 800-1000$ cdn thats for mobo, processor, mem case, vid card
mostly im leaning towards 2500k for cpu.
