its almost $100 more but i added it

is it rely needed to have a quad core processor. i have heard it is only needed in rendering videos and video editing.

quad-core is the solution for everthing. get HD 6870 if you are on budget and overclock it to hit the performance of GTX 560ti, if you can afford the 560ti then you will be much better.

yeah but the thing is all i want from this pc is pure gaming power. i do not care if the could render fast or it is really good for editing.

for all of my daily activities like browsing the web or typing up something for school i have a laptop

would the i3 be better for what i am looking for or is the i5 the only option for gaming. do you know anything about Amd proccesors.

i am kind of a newb when it comes to this

If you want a simple way to compare the processors just look at cpubenchmark.net

Here is your core i3:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-2...

I've been using a pentium dual core for a few years now and gaming is just fine on it for most games except those which are cpu intensive (GTA IV).
GTA IV is still playable but I usually get about 20-40 fps.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Pentium+Dual-Co...

I'd imagine with a core i3 in my position, I would get 40-60 fps on a game like GTA IV (assuming I used the same GPU I have now, an HD 5750). (based on the Average CPU Mark scores on the website).

With an i3 your games will run fine. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Use that and compare the CPU scores and prices to determine which one will be best for you.

newer games recommend a QUAD-CORE cpu for best result, and there is only two ultimate chip available. 1:i5 2500k 2:i5 3570k (latest).
