ASUS P8Z77-V LX - Fan connections clarification required

Hi there,

I intend to purchase the Antec 302 case. The case comes with 1 x 120mm Rear Case Fan and 1 x 140mm Top case fan.

The P8Z77-V LX motherboard states the following:

1 x CPU Fan connector(s) (4 -pin)
2 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (4 -pin)
1 x Power Fan connector(s) (3 -pin)

Correct me if i am wrong but the CPU fan connector is for the Heat sink fan whether its stock or third party right?

Do i need to connect the case fans to the Chassis Fan Connectors?

Lastly what is the Power Fan Connector for?

Yes.

Lastly what is the Power Fan Connector for?

If the PSU has a speed sensor connector (most don't), that's what it's for.

Cool, in regards to the PSU, i have purchased the TX 650 PSU and I can't find speed sensor connector for it however it has 4-Pin Peripheral Connector(s). Slightly off topic here but are the Peripheral Connectors for Optical Drives, Hard Drives?

Usually on newer systems, Molex connectors are only used for fans that require them or a random peripheral that may need it. SATA HDD's/SSD's and Optical drives use SATA power connectors.

Thanks, I have another question but its about USB3.0 header on the motherboard. It has 19 pins but the USB 3.0 Header cable in my case has 20 port cable. I have raised another thread for that. Hope you can assist me with that please?
