I'm wanting to get a graphics card so I can play Mainly Civilization 5, Starcraft 2 and maybe a bit of GTA IV and Portal 2 if I get it and have been thinking about getting either the 6670 1GB or the 6750 512MB but I'm not sure which 1 to get I want to try and spend as little money as possible so would the cheaper 6670 be good enough and also what would I gain out of getting the slightly more expensive 6750?

From my experience, gta IV runs very very very very poorly on PC. Even with crossfire amd 6950s, I still don't get 60 frames per second constant... Portal 2 runs very well from what I've heard from friends. I have a friend who has a laptop with a 5650m and he said that he gets great framerates with everything turned up at 1600x900.

What are your system specs? I don't want to recommend something to you that your system couldn't handle... I saw your configuration info, but you don't list your power supply... What wattage is it? Also, do you overclock, etc. I just want to get an idea about how much power your system can handle.

Between the two that you listed, I would go with the 6750, but I honestly wouldn't go with either of them. Have you considered the 550ti? It's almost the same price as the 6750, but has better performance. This is a great time to buy computer parts. Parts are soooo much cheaper than they have been in the past.

You could also go the used video card route (if you can buy the card from somebody that is reliable)... I just upgraded my gtx 260s to 6950s so I'm going to sell my gtx 260s soon. If your interested just let me know. I was planning on selling them for between $80 and $100... They still work perfectly. I just upgraded so that I could have some more gaming horsepower. (I'm a bit of a graphics nut, as you can see from my specs in my sig... :p ) If you have the dough for it, the 6950 is a REALLY REALLY REALLY awesome card, by the way. (I'm gonna sell you my 6950s. I love these things. If you want to get 6950s, you'll have to head over to newegg. I'm not selling mine... :p

********(If offering to sell something is not allowed on the forums, PLEASE DON'T BAN ME! I don't really know if that's against the rules or not. If it is, just tell me and I will NEVER do it again. I'm just trying to give FC360 some options.... :)

I only just found out what my psu wattage is, its been 4 years since I got it and didn't look when I built new pc using it, its 550 watts. Also my monitor is below 1600x900 and I probably won't upgrade it anytime.

Thanks for your offer however i'm wanting the ability to crossfire in the future maybe as my motherboard only supports crossfire.

I've been looking and oddly there just isn't any reviews yet of the 6670 and 6750. I don't think I've seen 6770 either, but I have seen 6790.

I'm looking at the 6750, 5770, and GTS 450 for my girlfriend as they are all around $100.

I think the 5770 is actually going to be the fastest of the bunch but who knows, 6750 might prove to be really good.

What's your maximum price range? Also, if you want to crossfire in the future, you may have to upgrade your power supply... Just something to consider. Also, if you crossfire, your cpu will probably bottleneck you. That bottleneck could be lessened if you overclock it... Given the updated info that you gave me, here are my recommendations:

For ~$150: AMD radeon 6850. This card is a great card for the price and can play most new games. It could definitely run starcraft, portal 2, and Civilization 5. Here's the tomshardware review: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-6870-radeon-hd-6850-barts,2776-14.html

For ~$100: AMD radeon 5770. I could not find any reviews for the 6770, but I do know that the 5770 is reviewed very highly. It won its price category for the Tomshardware April 2011 graphics card buying guide. Here's the review: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-5770,2446.html

The Radeon 6850 is pushing my budget a bit far, I've always been interested in the 5770 but I'm not too sure about getting it due to all the new cards I don't really know if getting a newer card has any advantages over getting a older 5000 series card.

Ok so the 6850 is around £130 ($200 aprox) here in UK so that's out of the question as I cannot afford 1 at all unless I can manage to find some extra cash somewhere which is highly unlikely. I'm gonna wait till tomorrow and buy either the 5770 or the 6670 as the 6750 seems to have vanished off the website I order from.

On another note how come I can't edit my own posts? :(

I'm willing to sell my 5850, which is pretty much the last generation powerhouse of sub $300 ATI cards. I'll sell it for $165 USD. I bought it for $240. It runs EVERYTHING on full at 1600x900. I know because my monitor is that res, and I play Bad Company 2, Portal 2, Crysis, etc. they all run great with AA on full. I have it overclocked a bit.

550w is enough for it as I know, as long as you have molex or pcie power on your PSU. I would hold back on the overclocking, though.

No clue why you can't edit your posts. That's weird. Try signing in again or something like that.

Try using the 'Quick Edit' function.

Just FYI I was looking into cheaper vid cards and the 5770 is easily the best bang for the buck because it's an older gen and can be found with discounts. After MIR I will have just payed only $95 for a HIS 5770.

The 6770 and 6750 are identical to the 5770 and 5750, just more money because they're new. Don't bother with them. The 6670 is basically the same as the 5670 as well, and not powerful enough to be a gaming card.

From Nvidia, the 5770 equivalent is the GTS 450, but the 5770 is faster and generally cheaper too.

So if a 6850 is too much, check if you can get a Sapphire 5850 Xtreme, which were supposed to be released at $150. If it's still too much money then a 5770 is going to be your best bet. FYI, CF5770s are only slightly more powerful than a single 5850 so at $150 that's a killer deal when a 5770 is usually over $100.
