Greetings Community,
I would really like some quick advice on the system that I am putting together as well as some questions . I am building this rig for work, using Windows 7 64-bit Pro. It will be used for Photoshop, Illustrator, database work, and the usual word-excel-chat-outlook-browsing - the ATV of PC have always at least 10-15 apps open on screen at all times and move files to/from network servers periodically
So, my 3 main Q's:
regarding Sata cable for the dvd/CD that I am buying are they compatible?
The two motherboard that I have chosen which would be a better choice?
And the best RAID level to set up. Based on my hard drive ("Western Digital Caviar Black WD5002AALX 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive")

the MB should come with 2 SATA cables one SATA 6gb and 1 SATA 3gb
23" would be a little long 12" or 18" for a mid-tower case.

depends on what you need it to do. the Asrock is a better board imoa, but there is nothing wrong with the MSI one. the ASRock has 2 SATA RAID/HDD controllers on it.

you need more than 1 drive for raid. how many are you getting? Raid 0 or 1 needs at least 2 HDDs, Raid 5 need 3 HDDs

I would recommend setting the system up using a boot drive for OS and APPs and a second drive for work. I would look at a 64GB or 80gb SSD for this task or another 500GB HDD.

I would get DDR 1600 1.5v ram with the i5-2500k.

I didn't see a power supply or a Graphics card in your build. you'll need these too. nothing too beefy.
