Whats better?

I have the athlon X2 64 bit 4450 e processor and 3 gigs of memory and a 500 watt power supply with a zotac 250 gts 512 Mb gddr3.
my question is this, i went to best buy and saw a whole bunch of graphic cards, I saw the nvidia 520 ddr3 512 for 99.99 and man it was small and slim. the other one was the Ati card 6770 for 169.99 and the 560 ti for 200.00. would the 520 be better than my 250? will I see a big difference in gaming or should I just buy a new rig? and is the ATI better to get since I have an athlon? they told me that intel is good with nvidia and ati is better with amd

  1. Your processor is old. The GTS 250 would be the most powerful card you will be able to run without bottlenecks.I suppose that its already a bit bottlenecked by that CPU.If you play your games at lower resolutions(<1680x1050), there is no need for you to upgrade.

  3. I wouldn't change your graphics card until you upgrade your processor.
  4. A GTX 560 is alot faster than one GTS 250, but in your case it won't matter much because your CPU is so slow that even your current GTS 250 is being held back. That old CPU is only running at 2.3GHz. If you were to replace it with a more modern CPU, like a Phenom II or Athlon II, you would see an increase across the board.
  5. Of course, any type of CPU upgrade is limited by what your motherboard supports.
