Hi. I was wondering if this upgrade will be worth it:

current specs:

Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H (AM2+)
Phenom II X2 550 (not BE)
ati Radeon hd 4870
500w psu
4Gb ddr2 1066 RAm
120 intel SSD

upgrading to:

Phenom II X6 1100T
Ati Radeon 2Gb 6950
850W PSU.

I was wondering if those upgrades are enough to run BF3 on max settings. And also if you guys have a better suggestion for my upgrades I would like to know (better price-performace ratio, etc).

I'm also debating if I have to buy a new mobo for my upgraded parts.

Thanks.

Solution
If you are going to grab a 6 core, make it a 1090t. Also, as long as your PSU is quality, it will handle all of that. If I were you, I would not upgrade. It will not run BF3 max, my hd6850 runs it on everything low with 8x AF and 2x AA. Upgrade to a AM3+ motherboard, 4gb DDR3 1600, Bulldozer 6 core, and a hd6950. That should do pretty well. Bulldozer will be out within weeks, so I would wait. Also, I am guessing that your AM2+ board will only support a 95w TDP, you will need at least 125w TDP.

Have you tried unlocking your CPU? I believe that board supports core unlocking so you might get lucky and end up with an X4. Overclocking it would also give you a good boost. Otherwise get a 955BE and overclock it. You may also want to consider just getting another 4870 to run in CF to save some money for a future build. Of course, a single 6950 in that game is probably going to be faster than two 4870s. Up to you though ^_^. Here's on on eBay

He wants to play BF3, which will use all six cores. 4 AMD cores willnot run it at max like he wants. I am not even sure 6 cores will. A 2500k will though. Even as low as a 2400.
