We have an old computer with a 59 pin DVI card. We have connected to it a 59 pin DVI male to two VGA female splitter. We just ordered new computers with four different types of cards. 24+1 DVI, 2-VGA, and HDMI. We are using one monitor as a workstation and the other for a presentation monitor. Should we use a DVI+24 to VGA splitter as we did with the 59 pin DVI to VGA splitter.

Rather than messing around with splitters i would just use standard adapters. What you were dealing with before was DMS-59 connectors which are specifically designed to split into two DVI or two VGA connectors and they dont have to show the same thing, if you split a standard DVI connection its going to give you two cloned displays always, you wont be able to make them different.

Since most cards these days have more than one output i would just use adapters on the outputs from the card to get the type you need rather than playing with splitters which can get complicated when you dont want mirrored displays always.
