About Corsair AX850 power supply

This is the first time I have used a fully modular power supply

The connector with the 24 pin on one end for the motherboard has on the power supply end 2 different connectors. 1 18-pin and 1 10-pin; both labeled as the power supply ends the same way the other cables are. There are slots on the power supply for each of these connectors. Do I need to plug both of these into the power supply or just one?

The motherboard is asus p6x58d-e

I don't know/can't remember, but I'm pretty sure you have to use both connectors at the PSU end of the cable. I don't own a Corsair AX series PSU, so maybe you would like confirmation from someone who does own one.

You do need to plug in both, each one connects to different wires inside the unit so it needs all 28 pins plugged into it to supply the 24 pin main connector. I dont know why they made it take two connectors, but they did.

Oh well I tried to get a 28pin chart of that psu but these connectors are proprietary so they decide if they release that info or not and they didn't.

Looks like you gotta plug them both or else it might not work. Anyways you cannot break your stuff by not plugin one of them in and trying it. You'll see in seconds.

I got my AX850 yesterday and I had to do some digging in order to figure out the connections.
