2D problem on ATI

I have an old ATI HD 2600 XT card. The 3D runs more or less fine, but in 2D I keep getting errors such as this:
It does not depend on frequency or temperature of gpu.

Is there any way I can fix this (I couldn't care less about the performance at all) or the only solution to this is a new gpu?

hmm this issue seems to be related with AA and AF, disabling them both at the same time makes it stable again.
