Hi all, I would love some help on what I should choose to upgrade from my current Radeon HD 4670. I'm starting to do 3D animation in 3ds Max 2011 and I dont really use my PC for games.
Ive done some research and I know theres the FirePro Series and the Quadro Series.
I'm thinking about the FirePro V5800 or the Quadro V2000, the higher end ones are a little too expensive for me.
My budget is around $400, should I go with one of these cards or something else like in the Radeon HD or GeForce Series and if so what would be recommended?

I would go with a ATI radeon HD 5870 1gb hdmi Graphics card. Or if you prefer nVidia then the GTX 470 which is slightly less powerfull but still very fast for $60 cheaper.

Hey,
I don't know about the cards that you mentioned, but for 400 you could get either a AMD 6970, or a Nvidia 570. Both are very nice cards and should be decent for pretty much any purpose. One the plus side if you can start gaming!

Thanks so much for your responses.
Ive had a look at the AMD 6970 and Nvidia 570 and they sound good. Ive looked at prices and I can get a 2GB 6970 for about $350 and a GeForce GTX 570 1280MB for $380. Are those good prices? I live in Australia so I cant buy from amazon or places like that where its a bit cheaper.
Would one be better over the other? What would you recommend? Ive read somewhere before Nvidia is better for 3d programs, is that true? or doesn't it matter?

And here are the other 2 cards I said, they're supposed to be for 3d stuff
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product-quadro-2000-us.htm... ] the Quadro 2000
http://www.amd.com/us/products/workstation/graphics/ati... ] FireProV5800

Thanks again

Go for the radeon 2gb 6970. great card and also very powerfull. and ati is much better than nvidia in my opinion. also just remember make sure your power supply can handle it, those big cards need a lot of power.
