I recently purchased some new parts for a computer I'm building and when I tried to install an OS, the machine could not find a drive to put it on. I checked the BIOS and it didn't recognize my hard drive that was plugged in. The drive didn't come with any jumpers, and it was also plugged into the first sata port. So I don't think that thats the problem. Also the hard drive isn't dead, plus I've checked the power cables and they seem to work OK too. I looked at my BIOS version and it was at 1.2, but when I checked MSI's site, there were updates all the way up to 1.9 and further. I think if I update it, it would work, but I'm worried about any risks associated with it, or even if its necessary. I also cant find any solid definitions about which updates do what, which is another reason I'm slightly weary of going through with it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I called MSI, all I had to do was reset the BIOS. Initially I thought I had a hard drive problem so when I was snooping around the BIOS I must have made some sort of mistake, but as of right now all the software is installing properly without needing to flash my bios.
