Belkin Wireless Issues: Connected, but not really

Hello,
Home laptop doesn't connect to router connected to my home desktop. Original problem was lost secure connection. In trying to fix that, I now have no connection. Laptop screen states "Internet explorer unabe to connect to router"

See if disabling wireless security temporarily in the router and checking that wireless mode is correct helps.
