My new XPS takes up to 32 gb of memory,is it worth it?

Hello,
I have the new XPS 8500 DEll desktop. It states that it can hold up to 32 gb of memory .Is this overkill?

Nearly all quad-DIMM DDR3 boards/CPUs support up to 32GB. Nothing "overkill" there, this is simply practically standard.

Right now, the sweet spot as far as installed memory goes for most people is 8GB.
