I have an ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 mobo coming but, I'm conused.

this board supports crossfirexX and crossfireX quad but, only has 2x pci-e x16 slots. How does it support quad then?

Also, looking at the manual it shows two amd gpu cards with a single cf bridge and another option with two cards connected (same two cards) connected by two cf bridges.

I'm totally confused.

Dual 6990's, which would be Quad CF.
