From Athlon 64 X2 3800+ to Athlon II X2 270

Yes,it's a substantial improvement.
Here are some benchies (no games though and I couldn't match the exact processors in it (had to use a slightly slower Athlon II X2 265 and a faster Athlon X2 4600+

It's even better than a Athlon X2 6400+CPU in terms of performance

But are you sure your motherboard supports the CPU?

If your motherboard supports it I recommend an Athlon II X3 CPU though for best bang per buck rather than the Athlon II X2's

I would be looking for at least a triple core, preferably quad core CPU for games now. they are only a few more dollars. Dual cores wont give you smooth game play with many recent release games.

Yes, I would love to get a tri core or a quad core, but sadly I am limited by my mobo's allowed TDP which is 65W as maximum xD.
