First time/budget gaming build opinions

Okay, this will be my first time building a PC and I've selected a few parts and was wondering would it work.

Motherboard - Asus M4A89GTD Pro/Usb3

GPU - Sapphire Radeon 6850/6870 (I do intend to get either later down the road for hybrid crossfire so relying on the integrated video chipset for now)

This is all I have for now and maybe I'll salvage a HDD or SSD from somewhere.

That is all compatible and quality parts. The HD68xx will not work with the onboard in Hybrid CF, only low end cards will do that at a lot less performance than the HD68xx.

If I do get it, would I be able to disable the integrated GPU and put a card in?

Yes using a discrete card in that board will be no problem. Most newer (if not all) automatically disable the integrated when discrete card is detected.
