I have a Intel Q8200 quad core cpu clocked at 2.8 Ghz, 2x2G of DDR2 800 mhz ram, Gigabyte EP43-DS3 motherboard. Will my cpu bottleneck a 6950?

I wouldn't really worry about it for most games, though. Only games that are really CPU reliant might show less FPS than they could achieve with that card, but at 1080p, the most demanding graphical games will still be gpu bottlenecked and any games CPU bottlenecked are probably already over 60fps.

Still, OCing the CPU isn't that hard, you can get it up over 3ghz and see some overall system performance increase.

I have a similar question, was going to create a new thread but I'll post it here. I have a Core 2 Quad Q8200 that is 2.3 GHz.

Would it be worth it for me to get a new case/PSU so I can add a Radeon 6850 or a 6870? The upgrade would cost me $270.

Depends what you're upgrading from. But the "CPU bottleneck" issue won't be too bad. Have you tried OCing? If you can get it up to 3ghz or more it'll help.

I'm CPU limited with my 6950 in all of my games with my i7-920. Sometimes my GPU will spike to 70% load. At least I can run everything with all the bells-and-whistles
