I have a AM3 mobo and want to get a phenom ii x4 processor when the prices drop from the fx series. Now my question is which one in the series overclocks the best? the 955, 965, and so on. are they all the same besides the stock multiplier on them? tell me what you think.

they "bin" processors ....the higher up the chain you go ......the more overclocking headroom you'll get generally.......case in point i can get 4422mhz out of my 975 (only 4340mhz burnin test stable tho...

I would advise you to get an X6 as they seem to run cooler and OC better in my experience, no idea why, for example i have a 965 at stock which idle and load temps of 34 & 55c respectively, and i have a 1090t OCd to 4ghz whos idle load temps are 22 & 47c respectively, and thats on the same cooling set up.

well im reading a bunch of reviews on newegg and it seems that the 980 overclocks to about 4.2 just like the 955.... they all overclock about the same i think.

How much is the 1090t in the USA at the moment as its well worth considering for those lower running temps.

Hmmm $50 dollars still, maybe its worth waiting a week to see what BD does to Phenom II prices.
