Hi all!

I'm doing an upgrade on my personal rig, and I plan for it to be the last upgrade for a few years. As a result I want to make sure I get the right stuff. I've got everything else sorted, but just wanted help choosing a good motherboard. My rig is watercooled with a big focus on appearance, I have a UV blue colour theme on tubing, fans, cables etc in a White NZXT Switch 810. I'll be getting an i7 IB and a single 680 (planning to SLI in the future just low on funds atm).

I'm currently looking at Asus P8Z77-V:

I'm willing to spend more on the mobo but I want decent price:performance. I'll be overclocking slightly (4 - 4.2 ish) and it must be SLI compatible, but also... blue in coulour :)

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

While u can always go and get some better mobo ^, the one that u have is ideal for what u want to do with ton of features.

It runs 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8), and the thought, that u don't want to OC past 4.2GHz with water cooling, will go away soon : )

With Digital 12 Phase Power Design u can past 4.5GHz IB safely and stable.

I'm only overclocking for some extra speed whilst running physics simulations, although I could go faster I more than likely wont bother.

CPU is the i7-3770K and its 16GB corsair vengeance 1600 MHz
