Will it run? Yes. The PCIe standard is backward compatible. However, make sure your PSU meets the needs of the new GPU...AND... don't expect miracles as your system will not be balanced with the older components and the new GPU.

Kind of like having a huge engine (GPU) with a tiny carburetor (CPU) in that the CPU won't be able to get enough fuel (data) to the engine for it to realize its fll potential.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I recently got a new corsair 750 watt psu so should be covered there. My CPU is a q6600. Do you think there will be much of a bottle neck?

Yep. You will certainly bottleneck the overall system ("starve" the GPU). However, you will have a great GPU already for a future mobo/overall system upgrade!

You are right, the PSU is good to go!

Alright thanks for the help colgeek. I think I'll go with that graphics card then. Seems like a good bang for buck card.
