Because I don't want to buy a graphics card to find out that it won't work with my mainboard (MSI Pt890 Neo-V, MS-7258), I want to ask you if it will work.

I read that PCIe 2.0 should be compatible to PCI 1.0, but some people had problems with NVidia 8800GT and Via PT890, becuase there was something wrong with the chipset or graphics card.
They wrote that ATI cards would work.

Should I buy a Gt440 or a ATI graphics card.

Information about my system:
Windows 7
2GB RAM 266MHz
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (8 x 266MHz)
MSI PT890 Neo-V
ATI Radeon X1950GT

Power supply: Should work with GT440, because this card recommends 300W and X1950GT recommends 450W
