Intel d975xbx2 Mobo
most current BIOS version offered by Intel with default settings
8 GB memory
2 SATA hard drives on the black connectors
2 DVD drives on the blue connectors
Here's the issue - I was upgrading from Win Vista SP2 Home Premium to Win 7 32 Ultimate and doing a clean install. I managed to find all of the proper driver updates for the Marvell RAID controller on the MOBO and all of the other components. Win 7 seems to be humming along just fine. However, the MOBO will not complete the booting process. It goes through all of the POST routines just fine - graphics card, Intel BIOS splash screen, Marvell driver loading - and then I get the black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. Here's the kicker - if I press F10 to force the MOBO boot screen to appear I can select one of the DVD drives, press enter, and the system will boot just fine, even with no DVD in the drive. It completes the boot sequence, finds the HD to boot from, and everything works. If I select the HD from the boot screen it continues to just sit and do nothing. I have no other issues - memory is fine, Win 7 device manager says drivers are current, etc.
