Hi all! Ive built a new rig over the weekend using the Asrock Z77 extreme4 and 3570K and everythings been running perfectly until last night after adding a brand new Sandisk extreme 240GB SSD and now whenever I try to start a games it freezes at the loading stage and stops responding, same with any sort of 3D benchmark. How can the addition of an SSD effect the graphic card or 3D apps?
Have spent the evening trouble shooting and found everything runs fine once the new SSD is disconnected. Have been testing the SSD and flashed it to latest firmware and it appears be working perfectly so am wondering if the motherboard is culprit or is it driver software related? Have tried different sata ports on the motherboard and different settings in the bios but still the same issue, have reseated the graphic card and power cables , everything works perfectly until I try to play a game and it stops responding :( Would very much appreciate some help!

System specs are: 3570K with corsair H70

Hi J_e_d , yes its all set for ACHI in the bios, have just performed crystalmark and the Sandisk reads Seq 531.3 and writes Seq 523.3 so appears to be performing correctly. Just cant figure out how adding this drive to the mix could effect playing games??? O.K will try your second suggestion and report back...

check to see what the drive letters are with the ssd not plugged in and with them plugged in.with windows and apps and games once you load them into the registry there going to look for there files like D:\games\doom\dome.exe when you added the new ssd did the ssd take up the drive letter of the storage drive or did you give it a letter after. and did you uninstall the games and reinstall them or copied the game folders over.
