Wrong firmware update

i actually very much dishearten with sony optiarc support team, i've a sony optiarc dvd rw AD-7240S drive, yesterday i downloaded the firmware file from optiarc support page and asked them some questions related to that firmware file via their form filling category, 24 hour passed but they gave me no reply, and i destroyed my dvd ram drive with a missile (wrong firmware update file)...............................

Maybe in the future you may want to try this software.
I've used it since XP Pentium 4 days for OD firmware updates.
Haven't made a brick yet.

That being said of all the OD's i've owned over the years LG,Samsung,Asus,and Sony.
All still work except the Sony.
LG and Samsung have excellent direct support sites for firmware updates.
Easiest i've ever used.

As far as i know you've bricked the drive.
You can try to reflash it and pray it works.
Otherwise it's E-waste buy another drive.
Bought all mine for under $20 on sale.
Turn caps off in forums here it's considered rude!
